Today Egypt in general and Port Said specifically celebrates the victory day as its national day.
Just like today but in the 1956 the trio-Army forces of England, France and Israel left the Suez Canal area and Sinai as a result of international pressure "The American and The Soviet threats and the great resistance of the people in Suez Canal especially the Port Said.
As all those who familiar with the History of the region especially the political one, the trio-union attacked Egypt after the nationalization of Suez Canal ,England wanted to get back to the Suez Canal base ,France wanted to revenge from the nationalization process, after all most foreigners who owned shares in the Company de Suez Canal were French ,and Israel well I don’t the real direct reason for joining to the War club ,may be they were angry for arresting their spy ring in the Suzanne operation or better known as the Avon ‘s Scandal !!
What most people don’t know that England the first one to rush in to attacking Egypt was under the rule of very sick depressed paranoid man called Anthony Eden , who became addicted to anti-depression and pain killers pills " Well seems that Tom Cruise is not wrong in anti-depression drugs" ,I saw documentary about this in Discovery civilization proved this historical fact , the man put all his anger and all his paranoia and personified both in a person Called Colonel Gamal Abd El-Nasser "Second president of Egypt and the brain behind the revolution " ,He hated him so much that the people around Eden felt that it was too much , Eden even requested from the C.I.A legendary enigmatic figure whom I don’t remember his name now , the man who was said to be behind the free officers, who wrote the book "The Game of the nations" , that the C.I.A and M.I5 kill Nasser ,when the man returned to the United States ,he didn’t give attention to the request in his report to his superiors more that he gave attention to the mental and physical condition of Eden
Anyway today Port Said celebrates its victory; please remember the soul of those heroes who fought with simple weapons and strong resistance the great armies of England and France
