Ramadan Lanterns -El-Fanos

I am sorry for being lazy Scheherezade ,but this is Ramadan ,I am already busy and lazy ,yet it is not too late I still have many Egyptian nights and tales to tell you about
Tonight I will tell the Story of Ramadan Lanterns ,already you see in my Photo album some photos I took for Lanterns I hope you like it
Now there is strong relation between Ramadan and the Lantern ,that Lanterns became the Symbol of Ramadan ,As the Chirstmas Tree in Chirstmas
not only in Egypt but in other Arab Countries, but to say the truth Its origin is Egypt
When Ramadan Comes nearer and nearer Lanterns workshop in Old Cairo begin their handmade works ,and in average before two weeks of Ramadan beautiful Lanterns are on the Shelves in Shops so their main customers the Children buy it
Children in nights of Ramadan light their Lanterns ,Sing, play and even dance with it ,it is joyful thing ,the songs they chant with are so old that no knows where they come from
I still buy the Lantern every year by the way .

But How the lantern became related to Ramadan by this way in Egypt?

The Story began after the terrible War of Karballa in Iraq where Eman  El-Hussein ,the great grandSon of Prophet Mohamed ‘PBUH", was killed bruetly as a result for his defending the Islamic democracy and Equity , a terrible crime ,in this War ,the Remaining of the Prophet Mohamed were the great Lady Zeinab ,El-Hussien’s brother and his son 12-years old  Zen Ali El-Adben who was sick with fever and stayed with his Aunt
Lady Zeinab was a great powerful lady , that leader of the oppenont army also Muslim ‘unfortunately’ Zyad bani Omia was afraid from her yet he couldn’t do anything ,already he killed all the Men ,great men in Islamic history like Abdallah ibn Elzobir ,the grand son of Abu Baker ,and so he couldn’t do anything to Lady and young boy not to mention that they are the GrandSon of prophet Mohamed ‘PBUH"

Zyad gave a choice to Lady Zeinab to Choose her own Exile , yet she didn’t have the choices of Iraq or El-Madina or Mecca ,as Zyad feared from her presence there in these places to cause revolution against his cruel rule

Lady Zeinab Chose Egypt, the remote Quiet place with good kind people
And so the news went as fast as it can be to Egypt and its People that Lady Zeinab ,the grand daughter of Prophet Mohamed "PBUH" Chose their Country as a refugee ,you can’t imagine the joy and happiness the Egyptian people felt yet if you live in Egypt and know how much love and respect Egyptians have to the Prophet Mohamed ‘PBUH’ and his family you can imagine the joy

Messengers were sent to meet the lady and fellow her steps from Iraq to Egypt and it was hard journey I know it was , feeling sad from defeat ,from losing your family members ,from humilalition ,when you are great and noble with great and noble roots then found yourself a Slave of War under the control of dictator whose love for money and Rule made him blind from Mercy ,this incident I will tell you later about it

Anyway ,Egyptian were happy with her blessed coming ,they waited with a great receptation in El-Arish on the Current Egyptian Palestinian borders , she came with AliZen Al-Abdin and the Head of his Father Emam El-Hussein

Now the Craven reached Balbis in Sharkia now ,in the north East of Delta ,yet there was a receptation for it ,but it was a dark at night in Ramadan ,and people can’t see anything and so the ruler odered the Lanterns to be lit all the Way to  provide light and that a young Kid from every village go on the road with a lantern to see where the Craven was
All the Way untill what is Known now as Cairo ,it was the Capital but I can’t remember its name I guess the Moasker or something near ,it meant in Arabic the Camps and from here came the tradition of Children holding Lanterns in Ramadan
You can’t imagine the Reaction of Lady Zeinab in Egypt ,feeling so safe and happiness ,she Buried her brother honorable head her when there is a grand Mosque of Al-hussein , and she Lived in Egypt till her death and buried here where also her grand Mosque
I want to speak about her so much as this lady I respect so much and love so much after all I am named after her
I will end now with another short story Egypt is called the Protected El-Mahrousa ,you know why ,The Elder say that it was protected by God as the Family of Prophet Mohamed are buried here 🙂
